Elena Bottaro

Elena Bottaro was born in Noventa Vicentina (Italy). She was educated at the Scuola di Ballo del Teatro alla Scala, where she studied mainly under Bella Ratschinskaia and Paola Vismara. In 2014 she became a member of the Vienna State Ballet, in 2017 she was appointed demi-soloist. In 2019 she was promoted to soloist.

Her repertoire comprises the title role and Peasant Pas de deux in Elena Tschernischova’s »Giselle«, Julia in Davide Bombana’s »Roméo et Juliette«, Swanilda and Aurora, the dawn, in Pierre Lacotte’s »Coppélia«, Princess Aurora in Martin Schläpfer’s»The Sleeping Beauty«, Marguerite Gautier and Olympia in John Neumeierʼs »Lady of the Camellias«, Olga in John Cranko's »Onegin«, friend of the prince, little swan and Neapolitan dance (soloist) in Rudolf Nureyev’s »Swan Lake«, Henriette in Nureyev’s »Raymonda«, Pastorale in Nureyev’s »The Nutcracker«, Kitriʼs friend and Amor in Nureyevʼs »Don Quixote«, Lise's friend in Frederick Ashton’s »La Fille mal gardée«, Archduchess Marie Valerie in Kenneth MacMillan’s »Mayerling«, Ballerina in Jerome Robbins' »The Concert«, Odaliske in Manuel Legris’ »Le Corsaire«, Najade in Legris’ »Sylvia« as well as roles in Jerome Robbins' »The Four Seasons« and »Glass Pieces«, George Balanchine’s »Symphony in C«, »Theme and Variations«, »Valse Fantaisie« and »Jewels«, Daniel Proietto’s »Blanc«, Boris Eifman’s »Giselle Rouge«, Andrey Kaydanovskiy’s »Der Feuervogel«, Kenneth MacMillan’s »Concerto«, John Neumeier’s »Verklungene Feste« and »Le Pavillon d’Armide«, Edward Clug’s »Peer Gynt«, William Forsythe’s »Artifact Suite«, Alexei Ratmansky's »Pictures at an Exhibition«, Hans van Manenʼs »Four Schumann Pieces«, Heinz Spoerli's »Goldberg Variations« and in works by Martin Schläpfer such as »Die Jahreszeiten« and »Lontano«.
In 2018 she received the Promotion Prize of the Ballettclub Wiener Staatsballett.
