Alice Firenze
Alice Firenze was born in Genoa (Italy) and educated at the Ballet School of the Scala in Milan. In 2005 she became a member of the Ballett der Vienna State Operaund Volksoper. In 2010 she was appointed demi-soloist of the Vienna State Ballet, 2013 she was promoted to soloist.
Her repertoire comprises Swanilda in Pierre Lacotte’s »Coppélia«, friend of the prince, little swan and Hungarian dance (soloist) in Rudolf Nureyev’s »Swan Lake«, Arabian dance and Snow flake in Nureyev’s »The Nutcracker«, Street dancer and first bridesmaid in Nureyev’s »Don Quixote«, Henriette in Nureyev’s »Raymonda«, Solo-Sylphide in Pierre Lacotte’s La Sylphide«, Fairy of beauty, Fairy of vivacity and Pas de quatre in Peter Wright’s »The Sleeping Beauty«, Lilac Fairy in Martin Schläpfer’s »The Sleeping Beauty«, Gerda in Michael Corder’s »The Snow Queen«, Judith in Stephan Thoss' »Bluebeard's Secret«, Gispy in John Cranko’s »Romeo and Juliet«, Olga in Cranko’s »Onegin«, Zulméa in Manuel Legris' »Le Corsaire«, Lescaut's lover in Kenneth MacMillan's »Manon«, Mizzi Caspar in MacMillan’s »Mayerling«, Helena in Jorma Elo’s »A Midsummer Night's Dream«, Shadow of Marie Antoinette in Patrick de Bana's »Marie Antoinette«, Peasant Pas de deux in Elena Tschernischova’s »Giselle«, Solveig in Edward Clug’s »Peer Gynt«, Huntress (soloist) in Manuel Legris’ »Sylvia« and roles in works by Marius Petipa, George Balanchine, Serge Lifar, Jerome Robbins, Rudi van Dantzig, John Neumeier, William Forsythe, Nils Christe, David Dawson, Thierry Malandain, Edwaard Liang, Liam Scarlett and Mauro Bigonzetti. Moreover, she danced in world premieres of András Lukács’ »Duo« and »Movements to Stravinsky«, Patrick de Bana’s »Windspiele«, Eno Peci’s »Herzblume«, Natalia Horecna’s »Contra Clockwise Witness«, Antony McDonald’s & Ashley Page’s »Ein Reigen«, Andrey Kaydanovskiy’s »The Firebird« as well as Martin Schläpfer's »4« and »Sinfonie Nr. 15«. Furthermore, she has appeared as guest dancer in many European countries and overseas.
In 2017, she was awarded the Premio Capri Danza. On 3 May 2023, she was awarded the title of »Knight of the Order of the Star of Italy« (Cavaliere dell'Ordine della Stella d'Italia) at the Italian Embassy in Vienna for her contribution to strengthening the role and image of Italian artists abroad.
