Bettina Katja Lange

The work of stage designer and visual media artist Bettina Katja Lange ranges from performative forms of presentation to physical installations and virtual formats. After training in graphic design, she studied stage and costume design at the Dresden University of Fine Arts. She has worked at renowned theatres and opera houses in Germany, Estonia, the Netherlands, Spain, Austria and Switzerland, including the Münchner Kammerspiele, the Ruhrtriennale, the Wooster Group and the Performance Space Theatre 122 in New York. Her own projects and those created in interdisciplinary collaborations have been presented internationally, including the CPH:DOX documentary film festival in Copenhagen, the Les Ailleurs Festival in Paris, the Segal Film Festival in New York, the Goethe Institute in Beijing, the ETH Zurich and the International Symposium for Electronic Art (ISEA) in Barcelona. She is a close partner of the choreographer Louis Stiens, for whose world premiere High she creates her first stage design for the Vienna State Ballet as part of the ballet premiere Creations in June 2025.
