Gregor Hanke

Born in Frankfurt am Main, Gregor Hanke studied organ, composition and conducting (specialising in opera accompaniment) at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna (mdw). While still a student, he was employed as a répétiteur at the mdw, working closely with singers such as KS Daniela Fally and Gabriele Lechner. Since 2019, he has increasingly worked as a répétiteur at the Theater an der Wien and was also an orchestral pianist at the Salzburg Festival under Teodor Currentzis, as well as sub-conductor and répétiteur at the Bayreuth Festival in a production of the Diskurs Ring 20.21 event series directed by Nikolaus Habjan. He appeared as an orchestral pianist with the Vienna RSO under Marin Alsop, conducting Bartókʼs opera Herzog Blaubarts Burg and the vocal part of Bernsteinʼs Symphony No. 1 under her baton. For a number of years, he was accompanist to the Arnold Schoenberg Choir and also appeared in public as an accompanist.
Since 2023 he works as a solo repetiteur with conducting duties at the Volksoper Wien.
