Francesco Scandroglio
The Italian Francesco Scandroglio initially received his dance training at the Teatro alla Scala Academy. From 2014 to 2016 he continued his studies at the Centro Formazione AIDA in Milan and from 2016 to 2020 at the Ballet Academy of the Vienna State Opera. Furthermore, he attended master classes and summer courses with Talenti in Palcoscenico, Moncalvo in Danza, Forum in Danza, and workshops at the Palucca Hochschule für Tanz Dresden and in Estonia. After completing his training, he became a member of the Youth Company of the Ballet Academy of the Vienna State Opera in 2020. His first stage experience includes performances in Anna Karenina (2015) with the Scala di Milano Ballet. In the Matinees of the Ballet Academy of the Vienna State Opera he performed in roles created especially for him in Martin Schläpfer’s Jamie (2022 and 2023) and as Mister Noll/The Death in Christiana Stefanou’s Giocondaʼs Smile (2022). He has also danced in Frederick Ashton’s La Fille mal gardée and Marguerite and Armand, Rudolf Nureyev’s Swan Lake, Martin Schläpfer’s The Sleeping Beauty, at the 2019 Opera Ball, in the operas Macbeth, L’Orfeo and Aida, and the operetta Die Fledermaus. At the Vienna Volksoper he took part in the productions Märchenwelt Ballett and Anatevka. Since the 2023/24 season, Francesco Scandroglio has been a member of the Corps de ballet of the Vienna State Ballet. He has danced with the latter so far in Martin Schläpferʼs Drittes Klavierkonzert and Karole Armitageʼs Ligeti Essays, among others.
