Lourenço Ferreira

Lourenço Ferreira received his education at the Escola Artística de Dança do Conservatório Nacional in his hometown Lisbon. In 2012 he became a member of the Portuguese National Ballet, followed by his appointment as a demi-soloist in 2016. He danced numerous classical and contemporary roles such as Albrecht in George Garcia’s »Giselle«, Prince and Bluebird in Ted Brandsen’s »Sleeping Beauty« and Prince Siegfried in Fernando Duarte’s »Swan Lake«. In addition he has appeared in George Balanchine’s »Serenade«, Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker’s »Mozart / Concert Arias«, Akram Khan’s »iTMOI«, Hans van Manen’s »Five Tangos«, »Adagio Hammerklavier« and »Short Cut«, Ohad Naharin’s »Minus 16«, Vaslav Nijinsky’s »Le Sacre du Printemps« and Olga Roriz’ »The Rite of Spring«. Since the 2020/21 season Lourenço Ferreira has been a demi-soloist with the Vienna State Ballet. He danced, among others, the Peasant Pas de deux in Elena Tschernischova's »Giselle«, a »gipsy« in Rudolf Nureyev’s »Don Quixote«, fiancé in Pierre Lacotte’s »Coppélia«, George Balanchine's »Jewels« and »Duo Concertant«, Alexei Ratmansky's »Pictures at an Exhibition«, Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker's »Große Fuge«, Paul Taylor's »Promethean Fire«, Ohad Naharin’s »Tabula Rasa«, Hans van Manenʼs »Concertante«, Mark Morrisʼ »Beaux« and in world premieres of Martin Schläpfer, Marco Goecke's »Fly Paper Bird« and Andrey Kaydanovskiy's »lux umbra«.
