Jackson Carroll

Jackson Carroll received his training at Canada’s National Ballet School in his hometown Toronto. He danced as Apprentice in the National Ballet of Canada and from 2010/11 as soloist with the Ballett am Rhein Düsseldorf Duisburg, where Martin Schläpfer created several roles for him. In addition, he also appeared in works by George Balanchine, Merce Cunningham, Jiří Kylián, Hans van Manen, Amanda Miller, Jerome Robbins and Antony Tudor. In 2015, Jackson Carroll joined Kader Belarbi’s Ballet du Capitole Toulouse, where he danced works by Maurice Béjart, Angelin Preljocaj or Maguy Marin as well as in several creations by Belarbi, including the leading role in »Don Quixote«. From 2017 he worked freelance with the Ballet de L’Opéra national de Paris and at the Théâtre NoNo Marseille, where he also choreographed the two pieces »Nowhere in Particular« and »Mes Variations«. In 2020 Jackson Carroll interpreted a leading role in Tchaikovsky’s opera »Pique Dame« directed by Olivier Py at the Opéra Nice. Since the 2020/21 season Jackson Carroll has been a demi-soloist with the Vienna State Ballet. His Viennese repertoire comprises Catalabutte in the world premiere of Martin Schläpfer's »Sleeping Beauty«, Coppélius in Pierre Lacotte's »Coppélia«, Wilfrid in Elena Tschernischovas »Giselle«, Gamache in Rudolf Nureyevʼs »Don Quixote«, George Balanchine's »Jewels«, Jerome Robbins' »Glass Pieces«, Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker's »Große Fuge«, Mark Morris' »Beaux« and works by Martin Schläpfer such as »Radetzky-Marsch« in »Marsch, Walzer, Polka«.
