New York. A dazzling party. In the middle of the chaos: a dog, left behind. In the end, only the famous ballet dancer Rudolf Nureyev remains – and he takes the dog with him. A special bond grows between them, lasting until Nureyev’s death. After that, the dog ends up with the strict ballet mistress Marika, who wants to get rid of him – until she discovers something truly extraordinary: the dog starts to dance!
The best part? It’s based on a true story! Nureyev really did have a dog – a Rottweiler. Director Florian Hurler knew the dog – and the novella that Elke Heidenreich wrote about him. Drawing on these stories, Peter te Nuyl created a moving play, accompanied by Keren Kagarlitsky’s musical collage of ballet, opera, and original compositions.
An evening for everyone who loves dogs. And even those who don’t. For ballet fans, music lovers – and anyone craving a happy ending. Woof!
