Volksoper Wien nominated for International Opera Award

Volksoper Vienna has been nominated in three categories for the International Opera Award 2023, including the 'Best Opera House' category.

Statement from Lotte de Beer:

"The nomination of Volksoper Vienna for the International Opera Award fills me with great pride for our institution, all the artists and staff, and everything we have achieved together as a team in our first year. It is a beautiful affirmation of our work and a great honor to be nominated for this award alongside so many renowned international opera houses."

Volksoper Vienna and its artists are shortlisted in three categories for the prestigious International Opera Awards 2023:

  • Volksoper Vienna is nominated for Best Opera House
  • Artistic Director of Volksoper Vienna Lotte de Beer is nominated for Best Director
  • Production Designer Christof Hetzer is nominated for Best Set Designer

At the International Opera Awards, established in 2012, outstanding achievements in the world of opera are recognized annually.

The nominees come from over 26 countries, further reflecting the international character of music theater and the awards. Artists, productions, and ensembles from across Europe, North America, Australia, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Guatemala, Korea, Mexico, and South Africa have been nominated.

The winners of the International Opera Awards 2023 will be announced on November 9th at the Teatr Wielki of the Polish National Opera in Warsaw.
