Kiyoka Hashimoto

The Japanese Kiyoka Hashimoto was educated at the Izumi Ballet in Japan and at the Cannes Jeune Ballet. In 2004 she became a member of the Semperoper Ballett Dresden, in 2008 she joined the Ballett der Vienna State Opera und Volksoper, where she was appointed demi-soloist in 2010. In 2012 she was promoted to soloist of the Vienna State Ballet, in 2016 to first soloist.

The versatile dancer interpreted the big roles of the classical repertoire as in Rudolf Nureyev’s »Swan Lake«, "Don Quixote" and "The Nutcracker", Lise in Frederick Ashton's »La Fille mal gardée«, Swanilda in Pierre Lacotte's »Coppélia«, Effie in Lacotte's »La Sylphide«, Olga in John Cranko's »Onegin«, Médora in Manuel Legris' »Le Corsaire«, title role in Legris’ »Sylvia«, Myrtha in Elena Tschernischova’s »Giselle«, Enchanted Princess in Peter Wright's »The Sleeping Beauty«, Princess Florine and the Queen in Martin Schläpfer's »Sleeping Beauty«, Manon Lescaut in John Neumeierʼs »Lady of the Camellias« and Crown Princess Stephanie in Kenneth MacMillan's »Mayerling« but also parts in neo-classical and contemporary pieces by George Balanchine – such as »Duo Concertant« –, Serge Lifar, Rudi van Dantzig, Jerome Robbins – such as »Other Dances« –, Jiří Kylián, Nils Christe, John Neumeier, William Forsythe, Jean-Christophe Maillot, Thierry Malandain, Stephan Thoss, Patrick de Bana, Helen Pickett, David Dawson, Christopher Wheeldon, Jiří Bubeníček, Alexander Ekman, Nacho Duato, Alexei Ratmansky sowie »Skew-Whiff« von Sol León & Paul Lightfoot.
