Calogero Failla
The Italian Calogero Failla received his training with Liliana Cosi and Marinel Ştefănescu and Jean-Christophe Paré at the École Nationale de Danse de Marseille. In 2012 he was engaged by Janek Schergen at the Singapore Dance Theatre, where he performed works by George Balanchine, Val Caniparoli and Nils Christe. In 2014 he moved to Ido Doni Tadmor’s Israel Ballet and in 2015 to the Slovak National Ballet under Jozef Dolinský. From 2016 to 2018 he danced in the ballet of the Tiroler Landestheater, in 2018 he was a member of the Ballet de L’Opéra de Nice, where he performed in works by Rudi van Dantzig, Hans van Manen, Robert North, Roland Petit, Uwe Scholz and Eric Vu An. As a member of the Ballett am Rhein Düsseldorf Duisburg in the 2019/20 season he was seen in choreographies by George Balanchine, Remus Şucheană and Martin Schläpfer.
Since 2020/21 he has been a demi-soloist with the Vienna State Ballet. He danced so far, among others, the prince's tutor and a Spanish dancer in Rudolf Nureyevʼs »Swan Lake«, Carabosses entourage in the world premiere of Martin Schläpferʼs »The Sleeping Beauty« as well as parts the world premieres of Schläpferʼs »4«, »Sinfonie Nr. 15« and »The Seasons«, Schläpferʼs »Ein Deutsches Requiem« and »Lontano«, George Balanchineʼs »Jewels«, John Crankoʼs »Onegin«, Jerome Robbinsʼ »Glass Pieces« and »The Concert«, Elena Tschernischovaʼs »Giselle«, Hans van Manenʼs »Four Schumann Pieces«, Paul Taylor's »Promethean Fire«, Rudolf Nureyevʼs »Don Quixote«, Pierre Lacotteʼs »Coppélia« and John Neumeierʼs »Lady of the camellias«.
