Catarina Pires

Catarina Pires was born in Faro, Portugal, and trained at the Zurich Dance Academy under the direction of Steffi Scherzer and Oliver Matz. In 2020, she joined the Junior Company of Het Nationale Ballet Amsterdam. Two years later she became an Élève and in 2023 a dancer in the Corps de ballet of the Dutch ensemble. She has danced in works by George Balanchine, Rachel Beaujean, William Forsythe, Jiří Kylián, Christian Spuck, Rudi van Danzig, Hans van Manen and Sir Peter Wright, among others. In 2020, she was a finalist at the Prix de Lausanne and won both the Audience Favourite Award and a scholarship. Catarina Pires will become a dancer in the Corps de ballet of the Vienna Sate Ballet in the 2024/25 season.
