Florian Klinger
Florian Klinger, born in 1991 in Hollabrunn, studied classical percussion with Prof. Gerhard Windbacher at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna and jazz mallets with Paul Urbanek and Danny Grissett at the JAM Music Lab University. He has been a percussionist in the Vienna Volksoper Orchestra since 2011 and a lecturer for percussion, jazz mallets and improvisation since 2015.
In 2013, he founded the internationally successful ensemble Louieʼs Cage Percussion with other up-and-coming musicians. In 2016-2017 Florian Klinger studied jazz vibraphone with Stefon Harris in New York City and composition at William Paterson University NJ with Kevin Norton, Bill Charlap, Aaron Goldberg and others. He was selected for the Betty Carter Jazz Ahead Residency Program 2017 at the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C. under the direction of Jason Moran. 2020 he released his debut album ONE on the label Cracked Anegg Records. In 2022 he founded the band Alpha Trianguli with trombonist Alois Eberl. He has played in ensembles of the most diverse musical styles, with the Vienna State Opera Orchestra, the Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Tonkünstlerorchester Niederösterreich and, among others with Benny Golson, Dick Hyman, Fabio Luisi, Bob Mintzer, Danny Grissett, Daniel Hope, Elīna Garanča, José Carreras, Jonas Kaufmann, Diana Damrau, Erwin Schrott, Christian Kolonovits, Thomas Gansch, Matthias Schorn, Lylit, Sigrid Hauser, Mario Gonzi, Lorenz Raab and Philipp Nykrin.
