Igor Zapravdin

Igor Zapravdin, born in Sevastopol, has been working as a ballet pianist at the Vienna State Opera since 1992. Trained in composition and piano at the Tchaikovsky State Conservatory Moscow and the Music Pedagogic Institute, he discovered his special love for ballet at an early age. He has been working as repetiteur at important stages in Russia such as The Moscow Classical Ballet, the ballet of the Stanislavski and Nemirovich-Danchenko Music Theatre Moscow and the Russian State Ballet. He is a regular soloist in the performances of the Vienna State Ballet at Vienna State Opera and Volksoper, including pieces by Frédéric Chopin in Jerome Robbinsʼ The Concert and John Neumeierʼs Lady of the Camellias. For the musical versions of La Bayadère and Le Corsaire he worked closely with Vladimir Malakhov and Manuel Legris. He has performed with numerous renowned singers and instrumentalists, including cellist Mstislav Rostropovich, and organized ballet galas in Vienna, Moscow, Stuttgart, Luxembourg and Eisenstadt. He has recorded several CD’s with music for class and ballet, partly in close cooperation with ballet schools such as the Accademia Nazionale di Danza in Rome.
