Statement

The Volksoper Vienna and its employees are appalled and saddened by the terrorist attacks of Hamas on Israel. We vehemently reject antisemitism in any form; nothing can justify these acts. Our thoughts are with the victims and their families, as well as with all Jewish fellow citizens who are shaken and fearful due to this terrible attack. As an Austrian cultural institution, we are aware of our special historical responsibility and continually engage with the themes of hatred and intolerance in our artistic work. We stand in solidarity with all civilian victims and peace-loving individuals who suffer from the consequences of this terrorist attack and war on both sides.
