Gefährten in Wort und Ton

An evening with instrumental music by Kurt Weill, Paul Dessau, Paul Hindemith and texts by Bertolt Brecht

With the premiere of The Threepenny Opera, all signs point to the duo Brecht and Weill. The first collaboration between the two was a rush job under time pressure, and yet success did not fail to materialise. The birth of a dream team? Sure - important works such as Mahagonny or The Seven Deadly Sins followed, but after increasing differences, the two decided to go their separate ways. Somewhat overshadowed by this successful team are Brecht's collaborations with composers such as Paul Dessau or Paul Hindemith.

We want to dedicate a joint evening to these four gentlemen, where they can meet once again - albeit in a different way than they might have planned themselves. Chamber music (such as the rarely performed String Quartet in B minor by Kurt Weil) meets texts by Bertolt Brecht and interweaves to create a narrative all of its own.
